Scholarships

DfE has provided funding for schools in Opportunity Areas, such as Bradford, and high priority local authority areas at no cost. Schools accessing this pay the cost of the programme in advance and are them reimbursed by Carnegie Leaders once DfE releases the scholarship funds. However, if demand for funding is high, the DfE may need to implement their prioritisation criteria in relation to the availability of these scholarships. The DfE will be reviewing the financial position regularly and will keep providers updated.

National Professional Qualification (NPQ) Scholarship Funding for the 2019/20 financial year (April 2019 to March 2020) has been confirmed.

A reminder of the prioritisation criteria is set out below:

In the event of over subscription for the scholarship funding the DfE will apply the following criteria:

  1. NPQ course participants working in a school in an Opportunity Area, where the school is also below the Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 4 floor standards;
  2. All other NPQ course participants working in Opportunity Areas;
  3. NPQ course participants working in schools where more than 30% of pupils receive Free School Meals; and
  4. Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) NPQ course participants.

The DfE reserves the right to withdraw scholarships. If you have any queries about this, please contact Carnegie Leaders.

Apply for 2019-20 NPQs (Induction September/October 2019)*

Based on feedback of the 90 NPQ participants training with us in 2018-19, we've moved the start date for each programme to September/October 2019. This will help to ensure participants have SATs and teacher assessment data to show impact of their project at the end of the programme.

Once you've worked out your needs, please ask your member(s) of staff to complete the relevant application form, below.

What Current Primary Participants are Saying:

“The team at GSA have tailored their delivery to suit my needs as acting head. The F2F days offer great opportunities to network and develop the feeling we are all in this together.”

What Current Secondary Participants are Saying:

"I have found the NPQH programme to be excellent. The materials provided are a tremendous resource in helping to reflect on best practice as a school leader and the support and guidance offered via GSA throughout the programme has been hugely beneficial and greatly appreciated. I would recommend the programme without reservation to anyone who would like to find out more about themselves and their potential to become an outstanding school leader."

Deputy Head
(Becket Catholic Secondary School)
